The 2025 First Preparatory Work Communication Meeting on Central and Local Cooperation for the fifth World Congress of Biosphere Reserves (WCBR) was held in Hangzhou on March 10. The representatives from Chinese Academy of Sciences, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, and other related parties participated in the meeting.

At the meeting, the WCBR Executive Committee Office provided a detailed report on the recent work progress and the overall work plan for 2025. The Department of General Administration Chinese Academy of Sciences reported the event publicity work progress and the next plan, and Zhejiang Preparatory Committee Office also gave an account of the recent work progress and the preparatory work plan for 2025. All parties conducted in-depth exchanges on the preparatory work, and reached consensus.

At the meeting, it was pointed out that the event preparations entered a critical sprint stage. Both parties shall strengthen communication, strictly follow requirements specified in the preparatory scheme and the established plans, closely adhere to the schedule, and coordinate efforts to ensure the high-quality completion of various preparatory tasks, and strive to make the WCBR become a fruitful and far-reaching international event.
