Event ID: 4 Title: SeaBRnet Achievements and Regional Collaboration for Biosphere Reserves
This side-event will highlight the key achievements and ongoing contributions of the Southeast Asian Biosphere Reserve Network (SeaBRnet) in advancing the goals of the MAB Programme. Established to foster regional cooperation among biosphere reserves in Southeast Asia, SeaBRnet has played a critical role in promoting the sustainable development model of MAB through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and joint research initiatives.
The objectives of this event are to review SeaBRnet's milestones—such as successful BR nominations, regional training workshops, and community-based livelihood initiatives—and to reflect on their alignment with the three core functions: conservation, sustainable development, and logistic support.
The event will also explores SeaBRnet's contributions to strengthening governance mechanisms, integrating traditional ecological knowledge, and enhancing community participation within biosphere reserves.
