Event ID: 69 Title: The living rivers network: Biosphere Reserves shaping climate solutions
The WCBR 2025 offers a key opportunity to develop practical models of cooperation between local communities and Nature. Addressing global challenges, especially climate change and water resource management, requires inclusive, multidisciplinary strategies that engage not only scientists and experts but also local communities and stakeholders. Shared water governance is crucial, and Biosphere Reserves can play a vital role, as shown by case studies featured in this event.
Establishing a thematic network of river-related Biosphere Reserves would create a platform for exchanging experiences, ideas, and solutions, thus strengthening the UNESCO MAB Programme and promoting sustainable and inclusive water management worldwide.
