Event ID: 36 Title: Celebrating 30 years of regional and intergenerational collaboration towards sustainable BR management in East Asia

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the East Asian Biosphere Reserve Network (EABRN), this side event will highlight the region's achievements in biosphere reserve management and cross-border collaboration under UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme. The first session will present a consolidated narrative of the network's legacy, providing a platform for member states to share reflections, and will formally launch a commemorative 30th Anniversary publication. The second session will explore future directions for biosphere reserves in East Asia, addressing youth empowerment, intergenerational cooperation, climate resilience, indigenous knowledge, digitalization, and gender equality, while identifying opportunities for strengthened regional cooperation.
