Our side event explores monitoring of effectiveness in the context of the new report "Accelerating the Global Biodiversity Framework by Strengthening Biosphere Reserves". The session explores how biosphere reserve effectiveness can look like and be monitored weaving multiple knowledges. We facilitate exchange, knowledge sharing and capacity building between participants, including linking discussions to the Global Biodiversity Framework.

First a panel will explore effectiveness, and experiences in monitoring and different forms of knowledge. Then a workshop will explore what indicators are or can be used to monitor effectiveness. Participants will exchange challenges and opportunities, identifying capacity building needs.
