Event ID: 51 Title: MABs and OECMs: a local and global opportunity
The side event will bring together international experts in conservation and representatives of biosphere reserves to explore the opportunities and challenges of the synergistic development of biosphere reserves and OECMs. The event will interpret the concept of OECM and its assessment tools, showcase the progress of OECM research and practice, and explore the potential and feasible pathways for parts of biosphere reserves and their surrounding areas to become OECMs. Aiming to promote the OECM concept within the MAB network, facilitate international experience sharing in OECM identification and management, and bolster the development of OECMs globally, the event promises to be a platform for collaborative insights.
